Daycare Muscle Shoals Al - MUSCLE SHOALS, AL () - A Shoals mother says her son was burned on his first day of kindergarten. The kindergarten's owner confirmed that it happened but said he had handled the situation and it would not happen again.
Racheal Brown said New Destiny Day Care in Muscle Shoals never notified her of the burn on her son Aubrey's arm. He said he found out after a friend picked up the 3-year-old from daycare.

According to the complaint filed with Muscle Shoals police, a day care worker was smoking outside and Aubrey was "accidentally burned." The emergency room report listed the burn as second-degree.
Linda Law is the owner of the children's center. He said he understood why Brown was so angry.
"To a parent, everything is important and that's why they tell you that I listen to every complaint," Law said.
"We're a Christian facility. We're a non-smoking facility. We don't smoke. No, you're not allowed. It shouldn't be happening here," he said.

"I want to see from the time my daughter is in daycare to the time she's gone," she said.
New Destiny is a faith-based daycare and therefore does not have to follow Department of Human Resources regulations.
Law said he does background checks and thorough interviews before hiring, but he can't be there 24/7.
"I can't control people's actions, but I told him I would do everything I could to make things right," Law said.

Brown wants all parents to know how important it is to document any problems at a daycare center by seeing a doctor right away and filing a police report.
